I love this time of year. Checking the mail and getting holiday cards from family and friends. Seeing how everyone has grown and changed since the year before. Who had a new baby, or started school, or got married. This year, I haven't received many. I hear a lot of friends saying they just don't have the time to send cards these days. It seems as though there have been less and less in my mailbox the past few years. A sign of the times perhaps? The recession, the techno age? I know I have fallen victim to both at times. Cooper {Baby Portraits in Richmond, TX}

You will be seeing this next little cutie a lot over the next year because he just signed up for my Baby's First Year Package. :) Meet Cooper. He is three months old and getting the hang of holding his head up. Except when we put his hat on. It was so funny. You would think the hat was very heavy. He was very content during our session even with the clothing changes and I am already looking forward to our next session.

I photographed Coy a few weeks after he was born and was excited to get a call to photograph his "half-birthday". He is seven months old and sitting very well, crawling, and even pulling up to stand! I think the "S" family are going to have an early walker on their hands. I almost died when mom started pulling out all his cowboy gear. How cute is that!

We met in downtown Richmond for Emery's model session for The Perfect Stitch. She got to model the Halloween shirt and treat bag, so I wanted a "house" look to the photos. Emery is constantly on the move and does best if you sort of just let her do her own thing and follow her lead. I think we got some great shots. I am so excited to be taking a trip out to Southern California October 8-11. For those of you that don't know, we moved from Carlsbad to Texas about a year and a half ago. I still miss everything about CA on a daily basis - my friends, the weather, the beach, the food. the friendly and laid back atmosphere.

Ever since me moved, my friends and clients have been emailing and calling asking where they should go to do their pictures now that I moved away begging me to come out to visit. I finally asked myself "why not?". I miss everyone so much and I am so excited to see how much all the kids have grown. Some of them I haven't photographed since they were newborn. So, I booked a flight and decided that this year I will be doing their family portraits again. I really couldn't be more thrilled about my trip!

Here is the schedule I have worked up. Children's portrait sessions are 20 minutes and will be $99. Family sessions are double-spots and are $149. Each session will come with your choice of 10 images on CD. If I can book at least 1/2 of my session spots I will give everyone 5 additional digital images on their CD for a total of 15. If I can book ALL of my sessions, I will give everyone a full CD of their gallery images at no additional cost. That is a $100 value for FREE! Be sure to spread the word to your friends and family. I am so glad that people are spreading my name to their friends because I love meeting new clients! Meet Ariana. An itty bitty little 5 lb. princess and the youngest of three beautiful girls. She was super sweet and perfectly content through our entire session. Even when she was wide awake she didn't make a single peep. I only had to hold her to get her to close those wide eyes for a while so we could get some sleeping pictures.

I cannot wait until your family session. All of your girls are so good in front of the camera!

Timeless {Infant Photography in Richmond, TX}

Maxton was the first baby I photographed in 2010 and he has grown by leaps and bounds. He is still as sweet as can be and a happy little guy. The session was very timeless using a washtub and an adorable romper. He did so well for his portrait session, that we were also able to use him as a model for the cute line of Fall owl clothing from Knotty Baby Wear at the end.

A beautiful surprise {Creative Newborn Photography in Katy, TX}

I had the pleasure of meeting the next family at the Mommy Swagger Expo. Mom was very excited to set up a newborn appointment for mid-September. I guess the little baby was so excited to have her cameo that she made her appearance early. Mom went into labor less than 24 hours after our meeting at the Expo! I love newborns teeny tiny and this little girl is so petite and beautiful just like her mommy. Meet Anna. She was so lovely that I used her to model some new headbands from Karley's Kloset.

Nick's Senior Session {High School Senior Portraits in Houston, TX}

After being rained out on our first attempt, we were lucky to only catch a few sprinkles the evening of our second try. Meet Nick. He attends St. John's this year and is looking into a couple of different ivy league schools or UT Austin for next year. Of course I am pulling for UT since it was my alma mater. :) We had a great time chatting about what life on campus will be like. Once I figured out how to make Nick laugh, it was tough to get a serious picture. lol

The first thing I have to say is when you get 5 one year olds together it can get loud. lol But this session was so much fun even through the chaos. I love the reason for it. The session was the result of an office baby boom. All the moms are nurses in the same hospital, all were pregnant together, and all delivered within weeks of one another. We met to celebrate the little one's first birthday together. Hopefully, they will all grow up to be great friends just like their moms.

See you all again next year for the two year session. ;)

Three little miracles {Baby Photography in Katy, TX}

I will be the first to admit that the triplet session was more challenging than I had anticipated. And, I give Mom and Dad a ton of credit for being able to keep up with all the diapers, and feeding, and snuggling all while still tending to their three year old son. Whew, it is exhausting no doubt. But after spending the evening with these three baby boys I can see it must be worth it. Edison and Fitzgerald are identical twins and at three months old are thriving beautifully at about 9 lbs each. Simon, is the oldest but the smallest at just over 5 lbs. He had Mom and me laughing all evening because he always looks surprised with his wide eyes. Three amazing little miracles.

A very special miracle {Newborn Photography in Houston, TX}

Can you believe this next baby is the 20th newborn session I have photographed this year?! I would say 20th baby, but a few of my sessions have been twins so they count as two babies. lol That is a lot of babies for us to only be about half way through the year!

Let me introduce to you Paige. A beautiful little miracle baby girl. I had a great time at this session! Mom and dad have great style and we were able to incorporate a lot of "treasured" items into Paige's session to make it extra special.

Big brother, little brother {Child Model Portraits in Richmond, TX}

Colton and Blake also signed up to be models for The Perfect Stitch. Mom and Dad decided to add on a full session so after we got pictures in the boy's big and little brother shirts, they got changed for their individual sessions. It took a little time for Colton to warm up to the camera, but once I figured out how to get him smiling things went off without a hitch. His little brother Blake is very serious and such a sweetie.

I couldn't believe when I got an email from someone to schedule a session that I hadn't seen in years. And when I say years, I mean probably about 12. I am so glad she did! It amazes me how there are some people in this world that you can automatically reconnect with like no time has passed. Well, a lot has changed since the last time we saw each other. Mostly, all the kids we have. lol Funny thing is, both of our oldest children share the same name.

Terrific Twos {Children's Photography in Richmond, TX}

Emery came in to the studio this weekend for her 2 year portraits. She is your typical two year old. Full of energy, experimentation, and boundary testing...wait, that sounds a lot like me and I am almost 30. I guess some of us never grow out of it. lol In any case, I love a child that keeps me on my toes and constantly creating new ways to capture attention. Some of my favorite images are ones that show the true personality of my clients and I think these came out perfect.

While Em was changing, I got to flirt with her baby brother for a little while. Isn't he sweet?

A while back I photographed the "M" family and have been looking forward to getting to spend some time with just Sidney. She is one of those chubby yummy little babies that I adore. They headed over to the studio for her 6 month portraits - one of my favorite milestones to capture! Neigh and Baa {Maternity Photography in Richmond, TX}

Yesterday, the "S" family came to the studio for a maternity session. They have the cutest little boy who is very close to becoming a big brother. He was much more interested in playing than with getting pictures with his little sister's baby bump. Funny thing was that he didn't want to be in the pictures, so that meant Dad couldn't be in them either. We were able to sneak in some great shots of the whole family. Even Neigh and Baa got to make a cameo appearance. :)

I met up this morning with the "C" family for Madison's 1st Birthday Portraits. She has gorgeous blue eyes and everything mom brought for her to wear brought out those blue eyes like you wouldn't believe. We also had some time for a few shots with her older brother.

I was so excited to photograph Vivienne for her one year session! I love birthdays and first year birthdays especially. It is so fun getting to do the "smash the cake" session with the little ones. A Blessed Day (times two) {Child Baptism Photography in Houston, TX}

This weekend, I was honored to photograph the baptism of beautiful Lily. It was a lovely intimate event with their family. Her mother wrote a touching post that I thought I would share here since I couldn't have found a more beautiful way of saying it.

"Welcome, precious little child so fresh from God above. Baptized today in Jesus' name, held in His arms of love. May angels guide your tiny feet and bring you smiles to wear. And may our Heavenly Father always keep you in His care my sweet Lily Grace!"

What made the day even more special is that Lily's cousin, Luke, was also baptized alongside of Lily.

I headed out to Heritage Park to meet the "S" Family (minus dad). We did a few group shots as a father's day gift and then moved on to different arrangements and individuals of the kids. Some of my favorite shots are the "in between" shots. Those are the shots I sneak in between "posed" shots. Sometimes I may be testing lighting or I might just catch the subjects off guard. The middle shot is one of them. I love it!

Two peas in a pod {Custom Twin Photography in Houston, TX}

This weekend I had the pleasure of photographing the tiniest newborn set of identical twin girls. Meet Carleigh and Caroline. Still under 5 lbs each, they were able to fit into my single-baby pod TOGETHER. Absolutely adorable! Funny thing is that they hated the flower hats. It took me some major baby whispering to pull those shots off. :) But, it was so worth it in the end! I was even able to get their two year old brother to snuggle and love on them for a few pictures.

All of my children have back to back birthday months. They are February, March, and April. I am running behind on doing all their birthday sessions. A common problem with me even though I am a photographer. lol Well I was able to carve out a bit of time today while the baby napped to do the first session for my oldest little girl, Lorelei who just turned 4. She is full of personality and loves bright, frilly, girly things. A girl after my own heart. She really is my little mini-me.

Apartments, College, and Ear Piercing {Custom Senior Portraits in Sugarland, TX}

I recently met Katherine at the Pure Fashion Houston fashion show. I was so excited when her mom called and asked me to do her senior portraits. She is such a sweet girl and did great in front of the camera. We headed out to Booth and spent the evening taking pictures, hanging out, talking about her apartment hunt, college, and how her mom tried to convince her when she was younger not to get her ears pierced with a crazy story. Apparently they put you up against the wall, point a gun and shoot earrings at you. If they miss, that is how people end up with random piercings in their nose or eyebrow. So funny!! I have to remember that one when my girls get older.

This morning I decided to have a little fun while I sipped my coffee, so I did a Fix-It Friday over at iheartfaces.com. Gone Too Soon

I was deeply saddened by some news that I received today. You may remember the precious set of twin boys that I photographed a few months ago. Beautiful baby Bennett passed away suddenly on the evening of Wednesday April 21st, 2010. I cannot even begin to imagine the pain of losing a child.

This weekend I headed back out to Booth for a family session with the "S" family. The old schoolhouse has such a cool feel to it and thankfully the ants seemed to have mostly disappeared since my last visit. Dad kept making references to old stories about the schoolhouse to try and scare the girls and Mom would shush him before he could ever get the story out. The legends were completely made up on the spot of course. Very amusing.

We headed over to Heritage Park for Henry's 1 year portraits on Saturday. He has been walking for a while and has definitely mastered running as well. He is in what I call the "movers and shakers" stage. At this stage they love to be on the go exploring their environment and he was the perfect example. So we just kept moving and checking out new places. I set my shutter speed very fast and was able to get some great shots.

This weekend I had a really fun adventure! I photographed Daniela's senior portraits in her favorite place of peace and contemplation. It involved a twenty minute hike, thorny bushes, muddy shoes, and sweat on my brow. But, I think the pictures speak for themselves so it was all more than worth it. The place was amazing and I am so glad that she chose to do her portraits there.

Bluebonnets Part Deux {Custom Bluebonnet Portraits in Fulshear, TX}

Driving to the bluebonnet field last night I drove through patches of rain and drizzle, but kept up hope that it would be dry out in Fulshear where I was holding the sessions. Unbelievably, the entire bluebonnet field was dry. It was like there was a huge umbrella shielding the field. Lucky us!

The first session I photographed was a gorgeous pair of kids! The most beautiful eyes and curly hair you have ever seen.
